If you fish, birdwatch, hike, go boating, camp, eat vegetables, garden, drink water, swim, or breathe, you already benefit from the work of America's conservation districts . . .
What is the Jefferson County Soil Conservation District? Our conservation district is a locally organized, self-governing body chartered by the state. Through voluntary action and cooperation of landowners, our district works to conserve land, water, forests, wildlife and related resources for the benefits of all. District officials, who contribute their time and talents, plan and administer conservation activities within our district. They work with the USDA Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS) and land-managers who have signed cooperative agreements with the district. Cooperators are eligible for NRCS Technical Planning and Implementation Assistance in carrying out conservation projects.
